5D Conference: October 4-5, 2008, Long Beach, CA.
This groundbreaking two day conference opened my eyes to the velocity of technology's impact in the design of entertainment experiences across film, television, videogames, animation and environmental. Leading practitioners of immersive design conducted a series of in-depth panels over the two days inspiring artists, designers, scholars, educators and students. www.5Dconference.com
Aside fro the amazing 5D creators and commitee, my favorite discoveries were: Joseph Kosinski, Evan Douglis, and Dr. Jerry Schubel of Aquarium of the Pacific.
Key Note by Henry Jenkins author of books about media and popular culture, most recently the highly acclaimed, "Convergence Culture: Where Old and New Media Collide." Additional speakers and panelists include world-renowned film, production and art design leaders: Rick Carter, production designer (A.I.: Artificial Intelligence, War of the Worlds, Avatar); Scott Fisher, chair of Interactive Media, School of Cinema and TV, at USC; Peter Frankfurt, co-founder/co-director, Imaginary Forces; Alex McDowell, production designer (Minority Report, Watchmen); Greg Lynn, innovative architect, philosopher and teacher at UCLA’s School of Architecture & Urban Design; John Tarnoff head of show development, DreamWorks Animation; John Underkoffler, founder and chief scientist of Oblong Industries, Gore Verbinski, director (Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy); Anne White, visionary brand communications executive; and Habib Zargarpour, senior art director, Electronic Arts LA.
I am proud to be a new member of the 5D team which will integrate humanitarian panel/workshop to the 5D conference next year in 2009.

World Changing
works from a simple premise: that the tools, models and ideas for building a better future lie all around us. That plenty of people are working on tools for change, but the fields in which they work remain unconnected. That the motive, means and opportunity for profound positive change are already present. That another world is not just possible, it's here. We only need to put the pieces together. I just love World Changing! Buy the book, open up a new page everyday and learn.
